Over the hump and safely into a big Thursday. First one of April. Somehow, Easter weekend is already here. Didn't we just celebrate the new year? And what a great year it's been! Or, you know, something like that. But hey – this is the month that turns it all around. Easter. Final Four. MLB. The Masters. The NFL Draft. Tiger Woods bodycam footage. We just sent people to the MOON for the first time in decades. Why did it take that long? No clue. But we're not living in the past. We're eyes forward right now. We're rolling. Let's go. Welcome to a Thursday Nightcaps – the one where Jena Sims slips into a pre-Masters bikini as she and Brooks Koepka gear up for the year's first major. What else? I've got ESPN predictably ruining the rocket launch, takeaways from Tiger's arrest footage, my Red Sox are beyond horrible, and give this PATRIOT in Cape Canavarel a medal for stuffing CNN in a locker on live TV. A medal! Grab you a telescope to monitor the situation in space for the next few days, and settle in for a Thursday 'Cap!I mean, look at that crowd! And they said space travel was dead. Bologna! It's never been more alive! Maybe I'm biased because I've lived about an hour from Kennedy Space Station my entire life, but watching a rocket take off gets me every time. Last night was my childhood. I grew up watching us send humans to space six times a year. Back in the day, you'd stare at the sky just hoping it took off on time so you'd be able to see it. We didn't have Twitter live-streaming the whole thing so you could know exactly when it lifted off. You knew the launch time, and just hoped it would take off as scheduled. But last night was the closest we've come to that in a long, looooooooooong time. It was the first time my 4-year-old got to see it. We stood in my backyard, watching the countdown on my phone until it took off. Then we looked up and there it was, about 30 seconds later. She was thrilled. I was immediately transported back to 2005. My God, what a great time that was. I'd give ANYTHING to go back to those years. Two decades later, I felt all the same things. I don't know why, but watching a rocket take off – whether it's one of Elon's or NASA's – just makes you proud to be a damn American, doesn't it? I was ready to run through a brick wall. I wasn't alive for the Challenger. I was alive, and watched, Columbia. So, yes, there's always a pit in your stomach for just a bit. But goodness, did I miss that feeling. Until, of course, ESPN chimed in and made the whole thing about race!YES!Nothing fires up the libs in Bristol quite like seeing a black person "do something for the first time." It's like Christmas morning for them. Such a predictable post from ESPN. I didn't even know Victor Glover was black before yesterday. I was reading some sort of NASA press release last week, and saw he was a former D-1 athlete and thought, "Cool, this dude sounds like he can pilot a rocket ship, I think we're in good shape." Of course, when I saw the astronauts yesterday for the first time, I knew someone would jump all over this. ESPN is always the leader in the clubhouse on these things. USA Today is second. The Athletic is third. Black, white, purple – I don't care what color my pilot is. As long as he can wheel that sucker to the moon, I'm good. Sure, I could insert a Tiger Woods joke here, but I won't because I have some class. That being said, let's continue …Yeah, I mean, it's sad. I wrote over the weekend that I'm sort of over Tiger Woods, the human. I love him as a golfer. Love him. I'd watch every shot tomorrow if he decided to suit up and play from whatever private island he jetted off to. But Tiger the human is exhausting at this point. We do this every few years. We get tricked and duped and fall back into the trap, and then, as Tiger said, "boom." We're blindsided by another off-the-course incident, usually involving a car. Brutal case of hiccups, though. I can vouch for that. Those SUCK. We can all speculate on why he has them, but I won't because I prefer to keep my job. Also, a tough look for this company:I'm a Rogue guy myself, but to each his own. Anyway, let's move on to happier things and rapid-fire this Thursday class into a big Thursday night. First up? Tiger won't be teeing it up at Augusta next week, but Brooks Koepka will! Get ‘em, Jena & Brooksie! I don’t know what she's gonna ultimately pick, but I'm sort of good with the yellow SI bikini. Not sure Augusta is gonna love that given they don't even allow you to say the word "rough," but you never know until you try! Keep us posted, Jena. Good luck, Brooksie. Next? Let's check in with my Red Sox as the first full week of the MLB season wraps up!Great start to the year! The Red Sox are tied for the worst record in baseball, haven't won in a week, their new third baseman is the only hitless player in baseball, and Roman Anthony looks GREAT at the dish!My God. What a clown show. If they lose the opener tomorrow, Fenway may explode. Can't wait!OK, that's it for today. Good class. Solid class. Let's end it how we started it – by launching humans into space! What a patriot. OutKick Nightcaps is a daily column set to run Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. (roughly, we’re not robots).Your ever seen a launch in person? The Ironic Item Police Found While Searching Tiger Woods After His Crash

The Tiger Woods bodycam footage from last week's crash – and arrest – is out. We can now do what we do best, and analyze it like the Zapruder film. How did Tiger look? How did he sound? What did he say? HOW did he say it? The Martin County Sheriff's Department released the footage Thursday afternoon, and the internet immediately went to work. It's, obviously, very subjective. Some think Tiger looks dazed and confused. Others say he seems relatively normal. His excuse for the rollover? "I looked down at my phone, and then all of a sudden, boom."Simple, right? Of course not! If you want the Xs and Os breakdown of the video, I suggest reading what OutKick's crack golf writer, Mark Harris, wrote earlier. He was all over it. I'm here to dive into the nuances of the footage, like Tiger falling asleep in the back of the cop car. Tiger with a towel on his head. Or, what police found on Tiger's person upon arrest:Well, that's … something. Ironic is the word, right? "Focus." Not the best endorsement for that poor company. Tough look. I'm a big nicotine pouch guy myself, so I fully endorse this move by Tiger. I know it's nicotine-free, but the point still stands. I've never tried "Focus," so I can't speak to its effectiveness. That being said, the irony wasn't lost on anyone who spotted this little detail. I could go on and on. You get the picture. Low-hanging fruit? Sure. But, as is life on the internet in 2026. Look, I wrote last week that it's time to stop protecting Tiger over stuff like this. I love Tiger the golfer. LOVE him. I grew up with him. I never missed a round. Never missed a shot. I was on vacation when he won The Masters in 2019, and stayed inside for an entire day of the trip just to watch the final round. My wife was furious, but I wasn't going to miss it. One of the most amazing comebacks I'd ever watched. I'm not sure it'll ever be topped. Anyway, my point is, I love Tiger the golfer. But I'm done with Tiger the human at this point. He keeps doing this. We keep falling for it. It's insane. I don't know what's going to happen here. I don't know what the court is going to say, what Tiger's going to say, or if any of this will hold up. I don't care. It's all just … exhausting. Right? It's exhausting. And sad. I hope he actually gets whatever help he needs. I really hope he hires a full-time driver. I also hope he gets back to golf and pops a "Focus" on the first tee, as God intended. We'll see.

Newly released police bodycam footage from Tiger Woods' recent car crash in Florida, and the moments leading up to his DUI arrest, reveal quite the scene involving the 15-time major champion.According to the arrest affidavit, Woods struck a truck with an attached trailer while driving a black Land Rover at around 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27. The front bumper of Woods' SUV caught the back-left fender of the trailer, which resulted in the Land Rover flipping onto the driver's side.Running your car into a trailer, suddenly finding yourself sideways on the road, and having to then crawl out of the turned-over car makes for an extremely stressful scenario. However, the bodycam footage reveals an incredibly calm Woods. While crouched on one knee, wearing a backwards hat and sunglasses, Woods is heard saying, "I looked down at my phone and all the sudden – boom."READ: Tiger Woods Stepping Away From Golf To 'Seek Treatment' Following DUI ArrestBodycam video footage provided by the Martin County Sheriff's Office shows Woods undergoing a search while also going through various sobriety field exercises. When answering questions about the medications he consumed, some of his answers and comments from the officer are redacted. The footage also reveals the moment Woods was placed under arrest. As the officer puts him in handcuffs, a surprised Woods can be heard asking, "You're arresting me?"The arrest affidavit detailed that, while gathering information from Woods, a deputy advised another responding deputy that "he observed several signs of impairment" and requested a DUI investigation."Once Woods removed his sunglasses, I observed his eyes to be bloodshot and glassy. I observed his pupils to be extremely dilated," the affidavit from Deputy T. Levenar read. "I asked Woods if he consumed any type of alcoholic beverage to drink to which he stated, ‘none.’"READ: Could Tiger Woods Face Jail Time After DUI Arrest? Attorney Shares What Could Be Most DeterminativeThe affidavit notes that during a search, two white pills were found inside one of Woods' pocket, which were identified as Hydrocodone based on their identifying marks. Woods went through four sobriety field test exercises, and based on the information in the affidavit, had trouble in multiple instances. After being taken to the Martin County Jail, Woods was asked to submit to a lawful test of urine for the purpose of determining the presence of chemical or controlled substances. Woods refused to do so, which led to him being charged with refusal to submit to BAL test.Woods was previously arrested in Florida for driving under the influence in May 2017.

Golf World Makes Excuses For Golfer’s Insane Pre-Shot Routine At Augusta National Women's Am

You don't have to do too much searching to find something to complain about in the golf world. Oftentimes, that something doesn't deserve the amount of criticism it receives, but when pace of play is the topic of conversation, it's fair to throw shade more often than not. However, based on some of the reactions to a recent clip of Bailey Shoemaker's pre-shot routine during the Augusta National Women's Amateur, we're apparently supposed to search for excuses for excruciatingly slow pace.Shoemaker, a junior at USC and the 68th-ranked amateur in the world, finished runner-up in the 2024 ANWA and is making her fifth appearance in the event this week. She posted a 1-over 73 during Wednesday's opening round, and while there is nothing to complain about when it comes to her scorecard, that isn't the case when it comes to her pre-shot routine.A clip of Shoemaker standing over her golf ball for a full 74 seconds before finally making a swing made the rounds on social media, and it's a legitimately uncomfortable watch. As you would imagine, Shoemaker was immediately lit up for taking ages to pull the trigger. Slow play is a very real issue at every level of the game, and Shoemaker's case is no exception, but that didn't stop the excuses for her slow play from being issued. Brentley Romine of Golf Channel reported that Shoemaker had undergone major arm surgery in October 2025, and while she's back to full-strength physically, "she's still fighting a mental battle.""Just trying to reassure myself that there isn’t pain anymore," Shoemaker told Romine. "I’ve been struggling with it for the last four months, just being fully committed to hitting the ball."We can be sympathetic towards Shoemaker battling her way back after undergoing surgery, but we can also say that taking well over a full minute to hit a shot during the most prestigious women's amateur golf tournament on the planet is ludicrous. The viral clip of her pre-shot routine is from just one shot during the opening round. It's fair to assume she didn't take 70-plus seconds standing over every shot – her and her playing partners may still be trying to complete 18 holes – but golf fans and media alike can't have it both ways.If we're going to criticize Brian Harman's infinite waggles or Kevin Na's previous pace of play issues, we can't just not say something about one of the best amateurs in the world taking an eternity over the golf ball.

Kirk Cousins Agrees To Join Raiders To Keep The Seat Warm For Fernando Mendoza

FootballNFLLas Vegas Raiders
OutKick

At first blush, it seems Kirk Cousins just stepped out of the frying pan and into the fire by escaping the Atlanta Falcons last month and agreeing to a deal Thursday with the Las Vegas Raiders. You'll recall that Cousins went through two years of surprising twists and turns in Atlanta after he initially signed a four-year, $180 million contract to be that team's starting quarterback.Mere weeks after signing that deal and moving to Atlanta for what he thought would be four years as the face of the franchise, the Falcons drafted another face of the franchise in Michael Penix Jr. And they didn't tell Cousins that was coming until they were basically on the clock on draft day 2024, getting ready to select Penix Jr.The Falcons were giddy about having both Cousins and Penix Jr.Cousins was not giddy. Not at all. And he was much less happy when he lost his starting job in December of his first year with the Falcons. Why? Well, because Cousins didn't play great and, again, the Falcons were itching to see what Penix Jr. could offer. So Cousins escaped that situation earlier this offseason when he was released by the Falcons. And now he seems to have signed up for precisely the same situation.Cousins joins the Raiders on a deal that essentially pays him $20 million for his work in 2026.But the situation is disclosed. Because in the April 23-25 draft, the Raiders are going to select Indiana Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick of the draft. And you can bet Raiders fans will want to see Mendoza as soon as possible. And you can bet there will be pressure to play Mendoza if Cousins doesn't produce pretty quickly. So, again, Cousins finds himself in the same situation of trying to stave off the charge of a rookie first-round pick who wants his job.Except there are significant differences this time:Cousins signed in Atlanta under the impression he was the guy. He's signing with the Raiders understanding he's keeping the seat warm for the guy.Cousins got a lot of money from the Falcons. That's not necessarily going to be the case with the Raiders. He's looking at backup QB money with incentives that pay him more as long as he starts.Cousins had multiple opportunities to go elsewhere, including Arizona, where he might have been able to compete for the starting job.But a source said he felt more comfortable reuniting with Raiders new head coach Klint Kubiak, who was the Minnesota Vikings' quarterback coach and, in 2021, the offensive coordinator during three years when Cousins played there. There's a comfort level between Kubiak and Cousins. And there's a shared vision.Kubiak spoke at the recently completed NFL annual meeting about wanting to let Mendoza grow into the starting job rather than having it thrust upon him right away. That suggests Cousins will get runway to start and play while that happens. The only way it doesn't happen? Mendoza shows he's ready right away or Cousins plays poorly. And, in that case, Kirk Cousins will be very familiar with the situation because he just lived in Atlanta.

Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo Delivers Absurd Tiger Woods DUI Take, Points Finger Elsewhere

Tiger Woods shouldn't shoulder all the blame for turning over his SUV in a residential area and being arrested on a second DUI charge since 2017. The "golf people" in his life should take some accountability as well, according to Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.Russo unleashed his out-of-touch opinion during Wednesday's edition of ESPN's ‘First Take,’ and went as far as to mention PGA Tour star and close friend of Woods, Justin Thomas, by name."I’m going to blame the golf people here too," Russo explained. "Justin Thomas is his best friend. A lot of these golfers, you know, 'I adore Tiger.'""How about somebody in the last 15 years say, ‘Tiger, enough of this nonsense.’ OK, instead of genuflecting in front of Tiger, because he’s an all-time great golfer, and you don’t want to get on Tiger’s bad side, how about somebody in the sport in the last 10 years put a stop to this, take the keys away?"Anyone with a functioning brain agrees that Woods opting to drive himself around all these years and not hire a personal driver is borderline insane. Having said that, if you don't think he's been told by countless people inside his tight-knit circle that he should stop driving, you're not living in reality. We're talking about a man who was charged with a DUI in 2017, who told arresting officers he believed he had been golfing in California that day, despite being in Jupiter, Florida. It's fair to assume folks in his life told him it was time to hang up the keys. Then came the single-car crash in 2021, where Woods was lucky not to lose one of his legs, let alone survive the crash. At that point, his family and friends had to be begging him to stop putting himself behind the wheel.READ: Tiger Woods Arrest Affidavit Reveals Pills, Trouble With Sobriety TestsThis leads to another aspect in all of this that leads you to believe that Woods truly does live this recluse-like life. It's no secret his personal circle is an incredibly tight one, but any assumption that he's surrounding himself with people 24/7 feels out of touch. It's incredibly hard to believe that Justin Thomas or anyone else we deem a close friend to Woods is spending an exorbitant amount of time with him off the golf course, talking about everyday life and whether he should drive his vehicle.Russo is by no means the only one who shares the opinion that the people in Woods' life should feel guilt, but he is the only one who shouted about it in the manner he did on national television.
