Max Homa Throws Golf Club In Anger After Criticizing Players For Doing The Exact Same Thing

OutKick

Max Homa launched his golf club in frustration during the final round of the RBC Heritage on Sunday, and it was a tough scene for the six-time PGA Tour winner for more reasons than one.Homa, who began the final round 18 shots behind leader Matt Fitzpatrick, hit a wayward teeshot and was left in a very tough position in a waste area amongst the trees at Harbour Town. After not making the contact he wanted on a punch shot in an attempt to escape the trouble, Homa chucked his iron into the ground a few yards ahead of him, with the iron ultimately making contact with a tree. With his name well down the leaderboard and not playing up to his standard, Homa let his emotions take over and let out some frustrations by throwing his club. These things happen, even for a player who has won a half-dozen times on Tour, but the timing of Homa's club toss makes the whole scenario a bit hypocritical.During his pre-tournament press conference on Wednesday, Homa was asked about the Masters' code of conduct being tested at Augusta National over the past weekend, following Sergio Garcia's temper tantrum on the second hole in the final round.READ: It Only Took Sergio Garcia Two Days To Apologize After Damaging Teebox During Masters Temper TantrumGarcia damaged the tee box on the hole before breaking his driver after smacking it on a nearby cooler. The chairman of the competition committee at Augusta National reportedly spoke with Garcia on the fourth tee box about his outburst. While Homa did not specifically mention Garcia by name during his remarks about the code of conduct topic, it doesn't take much to read between the lines."I say a lot of bad words," Homa said. "I very much try to do it not when a kid can hear. So I do think there's some, hey, don't say it in front of the wrong person, like be a bit aware of your surroundings. Not saying I've never done it. I don't like when people break clubs. I don't like when people beat up the golf course because we deal with it, and I think breaking clubs makes us look very, very spoiled."I try my absolute best not to do it, and when it does happen, as far as slamming a tee box, I'm very upset with myself because we're very lucky to play this game where we do, and I think it is a bad look. But again, this is a very frustrating game, and it happens. I don't know where I'd draw that line exactly, but I definitely think beating up a golf course would be probably -- because the rest of us have to play it."It's his note about looking "spoiled" that stands out.Homa didn't damage a tee box with his club throw on Sunday, or even a part of the golf course that another player might see during Sunday's action, but it's still not the best of looks, given his comments just a few days prior.

Country music star Morgan Wallen played a concert in enemy territory over the weekend, but managed to get the last laugh while reminding the thousands of fans in attendance where his allegiances fall.Wallen, a die-hard Tennessee Volunteers fan, took the stage at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night. In a smart move that set the tone immediately, he made his entrance alongside Nick Saban, the king of all things Alabama. While it may have pained Tennessee fans — and perhaps Wallen himself — to show some love to the Crimson Tide faithful, he was sure to remind them of his love for the Vols with a not-so-subtle move.As Wallen and his band played his song "TN," the wristbands that fans were given upon their arrival lit up in Tennessee orange. The country star turning Bryant-Denny Stadium into a giant orange light bulb is one of the better troll jobs you'll ever see. Before his show on Saturday night, there was concern among Tennessee fans that Wallen would wear an Alabama football jersey that the team made for him. The Crimson Tide shared a photo of Wallen having his own makeshift locker inside the football locker room along with a crimson No. 7 jersey, but the guy who very much bleeds orange and white didn't toss on any Alabama gear during the concert.Wallen is originally from Sneedville, Tenn., a small town northeast of Knoxville near the border of Kentucky, and has supported the Vols as an East Tennessee native since he was a kid.Playing a ginormous show at Bryant-Denny Stadium, making an obscene amount of money doing so, and having the pleasure of trolling the thousands of Alabama fans in attendance with some bright orange wristbands had to make for quite the memorable Saturday evening for Wallen.

BasketballNBAPortland Trail BlazersSan Antonio Spurs
OutKick

Trail Blazers vs. Spurs, 9:00 ETThe NBA split the East and West series between both of these weekend days, with two of each series going both days. Yesterday was apparently the "good series" day as the NBA had four games that started with spreads all at -8.5 points or lower. Today, there are three different games that all have spreads of -10.5 or higher, including this one between the Portland Trail Blazers and the San Antonio Spurs. The Trail Blazers beat the Suns (who then beat the Warriors) to make it into the postseason. Their reward was facing the Spurs, but even if they made it as an eight seed, they would have to face the Thunder. Portland, to a certain extent, has to feel happy just to be here. I'm not saying this team has no talent. I actually quite like the Portland roster. I've been campaigning about Deni Avdjia for months as the most improved player in the NBA. I won't call him a superstar, but he certainly looks the part of a great European player. Jermi Grant is the ideal role player for a team. Donovan Clingan is a solid center who made losing DeAndre Ayton a lot easier to manage. And Jrue Holliday is a veteran leader, excellent glue guy, and still one of the better defenders in the league. There is a lot to like about Portland; the problem is that they just aren't nearly as good as the Spurs. While the Trail Blazers are made up of a lot of good pieces, the Spurs are centered around the most intriguing player in the entire league. Victor Wembanyama could go down as an all-time great if his body keeps up and he maintains his play for another decade plus. He is one of the true unicorns the league has ever seen. This was a year everyone expected the Spurs to make the playoffs, but almost universally, they were chosen to be a Play-In team. Instead, they had the second best record in the West, winning 62 games, and it now looks like the Spurs will once again have a decade of excellence under Wemby and company. There are some other pieces worth looking at, though. De'Aaron Fox is typically a clutch guy, and still one of the faster players in the league with the ball. The role players are a mix of good young talent, and veteran leaders who have all played in big games before. In the regular season, the Spurs and Trail Blazers played each other three times. In the first game, the Spurs won by 13 in Portland. The next meeting, the Trail Blazers got the best of the Spurs, winning by five in San Antonio. In the third and final meeting of the season, the Spurs won by 11. Coming out with a -10.5 spread in favor of the Spurs makes a ton of sense. This will be the first playoff game for a lot of players on both sides of the floor. I expect there to be some nerves, so I'm taking the under. None of the regular season games were all that high, with the highest total being 225. I'll take under 221.5. For more sports betting information and plays, follow David on X/Twitter: @futureprez2024

Bengals, Giants, Dexter Lawrence Happy With Trade That Sends Pro Bowl Lineman From N.Y. To Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bengals understand they've been wasting Joe Burrow's prime years because, although the offense is outstanding, the defense has been horrible. So, this offseason the club has been working to improve that side of the ball and the crown jewel of that work is coming in the person of Dexter Lawrence. The Bengals have traded for Lawrence, the three-time Pro Bowl nose tackle with the New York Giants. The Bengals are giving up the No. 10 overall selection in the draft in exchange for Lawrence. And they're expected to give him a contract extension or raise on his current contract that still has two years remaining. The reason the Bengals did this, per a source, is they came to the belief Lawrence is better than any prospect they might land with the No. 10 pick who also happens to upgrade their defense. We told you this looming NFL draft was about a trade-happy exercise but didn't know teams would start before the draft even started. So Lawrence should get his wish. He's moving on from the Giants and getting a raise after requesting a trade a couple of weeks ago.The Bengals are getting what they want: Their defensive upgrades this offseason that already included Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook and Jonathan Allen, now adds a pass-rush threat and run-stopping anchor in the interior of their offensive line. The Bengals need the help. Their defense finished 30th in points allowed and 31 in yards allowed last season. (That's bad). The Giants aren't necessarily getting what they might have hoped for. They've valued Lawrence as one of the league's best defensive linemen for years. But they are nonetheless walking away with a top 10 pick to add to the No. 5 pick they already held in the first round. The Giants now join the handful of teams with two first-round picks in the first round but are the NFL's only team with two picks among the top 10 selections. The Giants are also avoiding setting a precedent by giving a player with two years remaining on his contract a new deal simply because he's outgrown the scope of his current deal.Let's see then …Bengals win.Lawrence wins.Giants win.Everybody's happy.Lawrence, 28, must still pass his physical to make this move official. He is scheduled to take that in Cincinnati on Sunday. We know that physicals standing in the way of trades has been a thing this offseason when Maxx Crosby had issues during his doctors' visit with the Baltimore Ravens. No one is expecting that in the Lawrence situation. This deal is going through as perhaps the biggest pre-draft blockbuster trade in recent NFL memory.

New York Mets $500 Million Team Has Lost 10 Games In A Row After Zohran Mamdani Meeting

It's early. It's still early in the 2026 Major League Baseball season. That's the mantra New York Mets fans must be repeating to themselves, considering what's happened to baseball's second most expensive team through the first three-plus weeks of the regular season. The Mets started the season 7-4 through the first 11 games, taking three out of four from the San Francisco Giants. That series win came despite losing Juan Soto to a calf injury on April 3rd. Then they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks to win their fourth game in a row. That was April 7th. Since then, the wheels have come off.RELATED: Think It's Easy To Buy A World Series? Just Look At The New York Mets Disastrous Start To 2026And it's culminated in a stunning 10-game losing streak, which got extended thanks to a 4-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon. They lost the final two games of the series against the Diamondbacks by a combined score of 14-3. Then they got swept by the Athletics at Citi Field, scoring just six runs in three games and getting shut out twice. New York then went to Los Angeles for a three-game series against the Dodgers. That went worse. The Mets lost 4-0, 2-1, then saw their closer Devin Williams implode in an 8-2 defeat to finish out yet another sweep. After an off day, they went to Chicago to play the Cubs. And they've been outscored 16-6 en route to losing the series and extending the losing streak to 10 games. New York even had a brief lead on Saturday, thanks to Mark Vientos' solo home run to go up 1-0 in the second inning. Sure enough, the Cubs tied it right back in the bottom of the second. And then took the lead when Carson Kelly hit a three-run homer in the sixth. Remember, this is a team that has a luxury tax payroll of roughly $381 million, plus a $126 million estimated tax bill, for total payout of $507 million. They are now 7-14, have lost 10 games in a row, find themselves in last place in the National League East, have the second worst run differential in the NL at -24, and are tied for dead last in all of Major League Baseball in runs scored. It's early. Right? Well, yes, to some extent, but the Mets' brutal start has already severely impacted their probabilities for the rest of the season. Per Fangraphs projected playoff odds, the Mets peaked on March 27th with an 89% chance of playing postseason baseball. Just three weeks later, that number has fallen to 47.5%. There's now a greater likelihood that the Mets miss the playoffs than there is of them reaching it. They're 6.5 games behind the first place Atlanta Braves already, and 5.5 games out of what would be a wild card spot. Those deficits can be made up, but this hole they've put themselves in is getting serious in a hurry.Almost nobody on the team is hitting. Top prospect Carson Benge is hitting .150 with a .217 slugging percentage. Big free agent signing Bo Bichette has struggled mightily. Jorge Polanco is hitting .179. Brett Baty has a .197 on base percentage. Marcus Semien, brought over for Brandon Nimmo, has just one home run and a .577 OPS. They're so desperate for offense, they signed Tommy Pham. The Dodgers, as a team, have a 138 weighted runs created plus, 38% better than league average. New York? Entering Saturday, their team wRC+ was 81, 19% worse than league average. They've scored 18 runs over the 10-game losing streak, just 1.8 per game. It's ugly. Yes, the Mets could recover and salvage their season, particularly with Soto expected back in the next 7-10 days. But this is a stark reminder than building a team isn't an exact science, even with a gigantic payroll at or near the top of the league. The Dodgers make it look easy. The Mets make it look hard. Oh, and the funniest part? It's all Zohran Mamdani's fault.

Lincoln Riley Makes Some Bold Claims, Says USC Is Ready To Win 'Championships'

FootballCollege FootballUSC Trojans
OutKick

Lincoln Riley's tenure as head coach of the USC Trojans has not lived up to expectations. While there have been flashes of brilliance, primarily during the 2022 season, his first in LA, SC has yet to reach the College Football Playoff, or compete for a Big Ten Championship. Some of that can be blamed on Riley, as the Trojans' defense was, to put it mildly, atrocious during his first two years on the job. Some of the underperformance, however, can also be blamed on USC's complete lack of preparation for name, image, and likeness-based recruiting. RELATED: Lincoln Riley Says 'Everybody Knows' Two Conferences Have 'Separated Themselves,' Play Tougher SchedulesDespite the wealthy alumni base, location in Los Angeles, and historic success, SC's athletic department, coaching staff, and donor base were not aligned properly when NIL came into effect. And recruiting suffered. After putting up classes perennially in the top 10 of national rankings, SC dropped to #18 and #15 in 2024 and 2025 respectively. Unsurprisingly, per most analytics-based rankings, that's just about where the team finished nationally in overall success rate. Well, thanks to a new general manager, Chad Bowden, better coordination, and weaponizing that prolific donor base, SC brought in the #1 recruiting class in the country for 2026. And Riley is already making some bold claims about it."We're excited Jim, you know, I think this will be the most complete roster that we've had here at USC," Riley said to Jim Rome on a recent episode of "The Jim Rome Show. "We return some really good productive players that we think are teed up to be the best they've been in their career, including some positions that historically you would say, ‘hey, this is pretty important’ in terms of returning production at quarterback, offensive line, running back, defensive line."Riley explained that it's not just the returning talent that has him excited, it's the "great class" they brought in."We've got, you know, we've got quite a bit there, which is exciting starting piece," he continued. "And then, you know, we brought in a great class. We signed the number one recruiting class in the country."You know, it's been great to get up the majority of those guys here for spring ball. And so that combination from a roster standpoint is excited. And we've just gotten a little bit better every single year."Riley went a bit further though, saying that this class and the returning talent have them in position to compete for "championships" at USC. "I think it's caused for a lot of optimism," he said. "So yeah, I can't wait for this season to come up. You know, we came here to win championships. You know, that's why you come to USC. And we feel like this group is certainly prepared and positioned to do that."There's little doubt that this is Riley's best roster at SC. The recruiting class, a good transfer class, and important players returning at key positions. Another year of development for Jayden Maiava, Jakheem Stewart, incredible running backs, and so on. The problem is that until SC wins a big game against a marquee opponent that they weren't "supposed" to win, no one will take him seriously. Yes, Riley beat Notre Dame with Caleb Williams, and had a big win over Michigan at the Coliseum in 2025. But the schedule in 2026 is daunting.Ohio State, Oregon, and Washington in LA. Penn State, Indiana, and Wisconsin on the road. Plus the rivalry game against UCLA at the Rose Bowl. In order to seriously compete for "championships," Riley needs to beat Ohio State and Oregon, or one of those two plus Indiana and/or Penn State on the road. Having a talented roster is one thing. Delivering on that talent is another. Do that, then start talking.

Disrespect Directed At Steph Curry From LeBron Supporters Is Off The Charts

Over the last decade, Steph Curry has dominated LeBron James in what matters most: Championships. While Curry can't lay claim to some of the impressive individual accomplishments of the self-professed "King," I'd argue he's been more of a positive to the game of basketball and been wildly more efficient with much less. That's why I find it funny that so many LeBron fan accounts and other supporters seem to pray for the downfall of Curry in the playoffs lately. They take cheap shots, which they believe somehow legitimizes James' career. I'd say, when your haters have to take so many leaps and bounds to try to delegitimize your Hall of Fame career, in order to elevate their favorite player's career, you've already won.Take this stat that has been making the rounds on social media for example: Steph Curry has missed the playoffs 40% of his career. LeBron James has been in the Finals 43% of his career. While this may not have been used to trash Curry's career, it certainly is misleading. Put these careers side by side and you'll know that Curry and LeBron both have four NBA Championship rings. Curry has done that in 17 seasons with a 4-2 Finals record, while LeBron has done it in 23 seasons and is only 4-6 in The Finals. Again, Curry is more efficient. Want to celebrate participation trophies, LeBron supporters? Go for it.Next, let's talk about the Warriors team performance since LeBron James took his talents to the beaches of LA. BronMuse on X thought it was a perfect time to dunk on Curry after the Warriors failed to defeat the Phoenix Suns in the play-in game for the 8-seed on Friday night. He provided a year-by-year breakdown of the Warriors since 2019 and went as far as trying to diminish the their championship in 2022, which is arguably the most impressive of Curry's career, where Curry won his first Finals MVP, simply referring to it as defeating a "young Celtics team." Give me a break. Curry and the Warriors went through an absolute gauntlet to beat a stacked Celtics squad in The Finals. They defeated Ja Morant and the Grizzlies, Luka Doncic and the Mavs and Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on the way to The Finals.Sure, I know this is the nature of social media, but you have to be pretty insecure when it comes to LeBron and lack understanding that you live in a glass house to share something so preposterous. That glass house is obviously the 2020 Championship in the NBA Bubble, which even Anthony Davis doesn't feel good about. Davis questions if the ring is completely sufficient and legitmate saying, "Did I really win a championship?… I know I'm listed as a champion but it's like, I'm not sure" while appearing on the Draymomd Green Show.My response: While Steph Curry may have missed the playoffs four times in the last 8 years, LeBron James is most likely about to get bounced in the first round of the playoffs for the fourth time in 8 years as his depleted Lakers team takes on Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets, tipping off Saturday night. Also, if you factor in injuries, which is a silly what if game at times, but if not for Klay Thompson suffering a hamstring strain in Game 2 and tearing his ACL in Game 6, Kevin Durant suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in Game 5 and Kevon Looney playing through a non-displaced first costal cartilage fracture, the Warriors beat Toronto and Curry is in elite company with five rings. This post was also purposely misleading, refusing to provide disclaimers. For example, Curry got hurt in Game 1 vs Minnesota in 2025, so that second round exit isn't on him. Curry also missed 27-straight games this season, while Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, both starters, got season-ending injuries. Call them excuses, but that's the reality.LeBron fans and supporters will have to jump through major hoops if his team gets torched in the first round against the Rockets. You'll be held to the same standard. All in all, Curry and LeBron have both had storied careers. They're both all-time greats, but some of these petty posts are silly. Enjoy what you have now, because in a few seasons, you'll miss seeing Curry flurries from 3 and a player who has been loyal to one team his whole career.
