The WNBA is investigating allegations of racial comments directed at Angel Reese by fans during Saturday’s Chicago Sky-Indiana Fever game.

In a statement, the WNBA said it was identifying an unidentified incident regarding Saturday’s game in Indianapolis, In. Few details were provided aside from a condemnation of hate and racism.

“The WNBA strongly condemns racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms — they have no place in our league or in society,” the statement read. “We are aware of the allegations and are looking into the matter.”

A source told Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press that the league is investigating allegations of racial comments directed by fans toward Reese in Saturday’s game.

The WNBPA also issued a statement characterizing the incident as “reports of hateful comments,” and backed the league’s investigation into the situation.

Reese was involved in a heated incident with Indiana’s Caitlin Clark during Saturday’s 93-58 Fever win. It is unclear when the alleged comments were made, or whether they were related to the brief showdown with Clark.

The Sky and Fever have a budding rivalry, in part because of the apparent hostility between Reese and Clark. The two teams are scheduled to play again four more times this season.
