The Boston Celtics started their Round 2 playoff series with a tough loss in Game 1 to the New York Knicks by a narrow margin, finishing with a score of 105-108. Following this defeat, former star Paul Pierce didn’t hold back, making some daring assertions about the team’s performance and potential moving forward.

The Celtics delivered an outstanding performance in their first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic. However, their momentum did not carry over into the second-round matchup against the Knicks. After their defeat in Game 1, Paul Pierce made bold statements regarding the Celtics’ prospects for Game 2.

“If the Celtics lose Game 2 at home, I’m walking here tomorrow, 15 miles! In my robe, no shoes on, barefoot… Put the house on this game!” Pierce said.

The Celtics struggled to regain momentum in Game 2 of the series, ultimately falling to the Knicks with a nail-biting final score of 90-91.

Paul Pierce Faces Consequences for His Trash Talk

Star player Jayson Tatum played for 42 minutes, scoring 13 points, along with five assists and 14 rebounds. Jaylen Brown contributed 20 points, one assist, and six rebounds in his 41 minutes on the court. Derrick White also made a significant impact, adding another 20 points, five assists, and nine rebounds. However, despite these efforts, the Celtics lost the game. Following the defeat, Paul Pierce took to X to share a humorous moment—walking an impressive 20 miles in a bathrobe.

“This is crazy dog I can’t believe this. C’s got me out here like this. I’m sweating. So I’m about 4 miles in right now. So I think I got another 16 miles?” Pierce said.

Pierce certainly paid the price for his bold trash talk. The Celtics will play game 3 of their Round 2 series against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. However, before that game, Kendrick Perkins had made bold predictions.
