Riley Greene slides into home

Riley Greene scored a run in his Detroit Tigers’ game against the Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich., on Wednesday on a ridiculous slide.

Trey Sweeney was batting with two outs and Greene on second in the bottom of the second inning with the Tigers trailing the Red Sox 1-0. Sweeney laced a line drive to left field, and Greene tried to score from second base. The throw from left fielder Jarren Duran had Greene beat, but Greene used an amazing slide to sneak past the tag attempt from catcher Carlos Narvaez.

Even though the throw beat Greene and Narvaez appeared to apply a tag, give credit to home plate umpire Alex Mackay for nailing a difficult call. He set himself up in perfect position to make the call and got it right.

That was an incredible slide by Greene. How did he do it?

Of course, Greene was just getting started. He went deep with a tie-breaking 2-run home run in the 6th:

That was Greene’s 10th home run of the season. He was having himself quite a game.
