Dave Merritt's domestic battery case was dropped on Thursday, and on Friday, officials released a statement to The California Post explaining why.


Dave Merritt was accused of 'unlawfully, knowingly, or recklessly' causing bodily harm to his daughter and charged with Class B person misdemeanor on April 23. He pleaded not guilty at the time.

The coach was arrested at around 8:50pm local time on Wednesday night - less than 24 hours before the draft - and booked into the Johnson County jail about 10:25pm,

Johnson County jail records show he was booked on Wednesday on one charge of domestic battery.
