Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having the time of his life at the moment. Just recently, he was adjudged as the NBA MVP for the 2024-25 season. And along with it came some really interesting perks. The biggest of them being, of course, a lot of money. With Gilgeous-Alexander becoming the MVP, he has become eligible to earn some really hefty amounts of money. $380 million to be exact! 

In a recent update from ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Gilgeous-Alexander can now sign a whopping $380 million contract for 5 years. While this is surely a great opportunity for SGA to rake up some dollar bills, there’s a small catch. In order to sign the contract, Gilgeous-Alexander would need to wait till the 2026 offseason.

Now, coming to the nitty-gritties of the deal, Gilgeous-Alexander will be entitled to an annual salary of $76 million. And this is higher than Shohei Ohtani’s average annual value! Moreover, the entire money will be going into the Oklahoma City Thunder star’s account. Thanks to him splitting up with his agent just a few months back! Meanwhile, as the MVP announcement has surely come with a lot of good news for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, one of his teammates has already announced him as the MVP prematurely.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been in red-hot form throughout the entirety of the season. Having propelled his team to the conference semifinals, the Thunder were up against a daunting Denver Nuggets.

With a lot of speculation going on about Nikola Jokic stealing the thunder, Gilgeous-Alexander did not let that happen. Dropping 49 points, the Thunder’s star ensured that his team got over the line. And as the Thunder beat the Nuggets 125-93, Chet Holmgren made the obvious announcement.

You know who this is? The MVP,” Holmgren said in a media chat.

Thus, with things looking rosy for Gilgeous-Alexander, it now remains to be seen how he can continue his merry run forward.
