Paul Pierce, who spent the majority of his 18-year NBA career with the Boston Celtics, continues to show strong support for the team. Given his deep connection with the franchise, he was especially hopeful about the Celtics’ chances after they won their record-breaking 18th NBA title last season.
Though the Celtics dropped Game 1 against the New York Knicks in the second round of the playoffs, Pierce, like many loyal fans, remained optimistic about a comeback in Game 2. His confidence was on full display during an appearance on Fox Sports 1 earlier on Wednesday afternoon, where he made a striking prediction about the game’s outcome.
“If the Celtics lose, I promise you, I’m walking here tomorrow, 15 miles. In my robe, no shoes on, bare feet. Put the house on this game. You got a better chance at walking out of this studio and seeing a dinosaur,” he said.

Unfortunately, the Celtics were unable to deliver. Despite holding a commanding 20-point lead, they lost 91-90 to the Knicks. This defeat marked an embarrassing milestone for the Celtics. The defending champions became the first team in NBA history to blow 20-point leads in back-to-back playoff games.
Paul Pierce Remains True To His Words After Celtics Game 2 Loss

For Pierce, it was a harsh reminder about making such bold public predictions. True to his word, Pierce acknowledged his promise and followed through. He later posted on X to reveal that the walk would take him 8 hours and 2 minutes.

Interestingly, he ended up walking 20.2 miles instead of the initially mentioned 15. Still, no photos were shared to confirm if he actually did it barefoot in a robe as he had pledged. Nevertheless, the entire incident added a humorous twist to a disappointing night for Boston fans.
Looking ahead, the high-stakes Game 3 of the Celtics-Knicks playoff series is set for Saturday afternoon. All eyes will be on how Boston responds to the humiliation of their former player.
