Turns out, even superheroes can drag on the golf course.
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac didn’t hold back this week when talking about a slow-paced round she once played alongside “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt. During her appearance on the Vanity Index podcast, Spiranac shared a behind-the-scenes look at a celebrity Ryder Cup event at the Genesis Invitational- and she had one major gripe.
“Chris Pratt might be the slowest golfer I’ve ever played with,” she said, laughing during her chat with hosts Chad Mumm and Wells Adams. “Super nice guy, unbelievably slow.”
Star Power, Slower Swings
Spiranac, who teamed up with Nick Jonas at the event, found herself in a matchup against the Marvel actor. While she praised Pratt’s personality, his pace on the course left her and others visibly restless.
“He had all these people around him and he’d tell these amazing stories,” she explained, “but we were like, ‘Hit the golf ball.’” According to her, the round took an exhausting three and a half hours — and that was just for nine holes.
She later confirmed the delay on Instagram, commenting under a clip from the podcast, “It took us over 3 hours and 30 min to play 9 holes for context lol.”
Paige Spiranac, 32, recalled her most memorable celebrity golf outing with Mark Wahlberg, Justin Timberlake, and Gary Player. She joked about Chris Pratt slowing the game with his stories but held no grudge. Spiranac also revealed her Hollywood debut in Happy Gilmore 2, playing a Dick’s Sporting Goods employee in a chaotic simulator scene with Adam Sandler.
“The fact that I’m in the Happy Gilmore 2 movie is actually insane lol,” she wrote on X when the teaser dropped in March.
Set to release on Netflix this July, the sequel will also feature appearances from Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Travis Kelce. With golf and Hollywood colliding more than ever, Spiranac seems to be right at the center of it all. Don’t ask her to wait another three hours for nine holes.
