With Nikola Jokic’s magical performance, the Denver Nuggets secured a 121-119 win on Monday at Paycom Center. While Aaron Gordon hit the game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds to give Denver a series lead, it was Jokic’s brilliance throughout the game that kept the Nuggets alive.
Before Game 1 against the Thunder, Jokic marked another milestone in his already remarkable career. It was the ninth time he led his team in points, rebounds, and assists in a single playoff series. That number places him second on the all-time list, behind only LeBron James.
While Jokic is earning the spotlight now, his achievement also shines a light on LeBron James’ enduring greatness in postseason history. James’ consistency over two decades remains unmatched, as he has done it in 24 playoff series.

Joker continued his dominance in Game 1 against the Thunder with 42 points, 22 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks while shooting 15-of-29 from the field. With the score, Jokic became only the fourth player in NBA history to post at least 40 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists in a playoff game.

The Nuggets’ collective effort was evident throughout Game 1. Apart from Jokic and Gordon, key contributions came from Jamal Murray, Russell Westbrook, and the bench. Speaking in the postgame press conference, Jokic highlighted the bond within the locker room as the reason for their win.
“We just want to win. It’s a great feeling inside of (the) team and hopefully we can continue to play like this,” Joker said.
Denver now holds a 1-0 series lead against Oklahoma City. The Nuggets will return to the Paycom Center on Wednesday for Game 2 against a Thunder team eager to respond.
