George Pickens has a new home in Dallas.

Dallas Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones said days before the 2025 NFL Draft, the team was working on “pretty substantive trades” that could happen before or after the draft.

He was not just blowing smke up everyone’s butt this time around.

Dallas swung one on Wednesday to add a high-end receiving partner across from CeeDee Lamb.

Multiple reports suggest the Cowboys finalized a trade to acquire wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to ESPN, Dallas acquired him and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick from the Steelers in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a fifth-rounder in 2027.

The 24-year-old Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He tallied 900 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 103 targets over 14 games in 2024.

The trade has been in the works dating back to the 2025 NFL Draft, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports. “Talks stalled, but Dallas came back with an improved effort that eventually lands Pickens from Pittsburgh,” she shared on X.

Here is how social media reacted to the trade:

“Cowboys still don’t make the playoffs….but ESPN will be happy about this and think it’s a Super Bowl move,” one fan said.

“Pittsburgh is really getting relegated to poverty franchise right before our eyes ,” a second fan stated.

“Dak needs help to be good,” a third fan said of the Cowboys trading for George Pickens.

“Lmao Steelers traded for Dk to get rid of Pickens ,” a fourth fan added.

Is George Pickens A Rental?

Over his three seasons, Pickens has caught passes from Kenny Pickett, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, Mitchell Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph.

He will now catch passes from three-time Pro Bowler and 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner Dak Prescott, at least for one season.

Pickens is entering the final year of his rookie deal, meaning the Cowboys will have to decide whether to extend him or franchise tag him next offseason.

They could just let him walk in free agency. Everything is on the table and won’t be decided until they see him on the field.
