The Phoenix Suns endured another disappointing season during Kevin Durant’s time with the team, failing to even secure a playoff spot. Durant joined Phoenix with hopes of capturing another championship, but the lack of success has raised questions about his future with the franchise, as well as that of fellow star Bradley Beal.
In response to the season’s collapse, the Suns have already begun restructuring. One major move came with the hiring of Brian Gregory as the team’s new general manager. During a recent press conference, Gregory was asked directly about the futures of Durant and Beal. He shared his strong relationships with both stars.
“I have a very, very good relationship with both those guys. Kevin [Durant] gave me a nice hug in the weight room the other night. I had a great dinner with Brad Beal,” Gregory said.

Durant remains under contract for one more season, while Beal has two years left, including a player option for the 2026-27 campaign. Despite their contracts, the uncertain team direction has sparked rumors about possible changes if the Suns aim for a fresh rebuild.
The Suns are currently without a head coach after parting ways with Mike Budenholzer. For Gregory, finding the right coach is now his top priority.
“My main focus right now to be honest with you is finding the right head coach for those guys. We’re doing an extensive process in that right now. I’m not going to give a timetable because I want to make sure that we get this right,” Gregory added.
Kendrick Perkins Predicts Kevin Durant Will Join Houston Rockets In Offseason Shakeup

Following another underwhelming season in Phoenix, Durant has already been linked to multiple teams. Former NBA star turned ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes the Houston Rockets are a serious destination.
“Kevin Durant is going to end up in the Houston Rocket uniform. They have the pieces. If I’m the Rockets, I’m going all in. Jabari Smith, Jalen Green, Cam Whitmore and some picks for Kevin Durant. And don’t come give me Kevin Durant don’t have it no more,” Perkins said.
Despite the Suns’ struggles, Durant proved he still has plenty to offer. He finished the season averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. It will remain to be seen whether Durant will head to his fifth career team in the upcoming season.
