LA Lakers legend Byron Scott has been accused of sexually assaulting a schoolgirl in a janitor’s closet in 1987.

The NBA legend has confirmed having sexual contact with the girl, Hayley Dylan, but insists he believed she was 18 at the time. He is being accused of sexual battery, sexual assault, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, in 1987, Scott was at a Lakers team event at a private school in Los Angeles where he sexually assaulted a then-15-year-old girl.

The 6’4″ former shooting guard and coach tried his best to remain anonymous as he wanted to be listed as John Doe and had insisted there wasn’t evidence to ‘corroborate’ his accuser’s claims.

This information is coming out now, but it happened in an August 2024 court filing obtained by the Daily Mail.

Byron Scott argued that, as a ‘public figure,’ he should be allowed to remain anonymous. A judge disagreed.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Kralik denied the request by Scott and also said that exclusive Campbell Hall School in LA, where the assault allegedly occurred, should be named as well, per the Daily Mail.

Kralik did not mince words and stated, ‘the Court cannot justify allowing the defendants to proceed anonymously in this action.’

The judge further noted that Scott “opposes having his name revealed because, he says, there are no known facts to corroborate her allegations.”

Judge John Kralik also accused Byron Scott of arguing “that he is a public figure such that irreparable harm to his character and reputation may ensure such that it would be reasonable to maintain his confidentiality until after discovery.”

Kralik opined that ‘John Doe has not provided any admissible evidence or other factual support of his claims.

He has not explained or shown that the case is without merit.

John Doe has not explained how his status as a public figure affords him additional rights to maintain the confidentiality of his name or shield his identity.

‘Celebrities must suffer the same embarrassment of accusation as regular people.

‘Here, there is no overriding interest requiring that any party remain anonymous.

‘Ms. Dylan has never sought such anonymity for herself – she is ready to subject herself to the embarrassment and stress of a public trial.

‘Moreover, there is an important public interest in knowing the names of anyone accused of childhood sexual assault as well as the names of the accuser to that those claims can be fairly evaluated and handled.’

Lakers legend Byron Scott has been accused of sexually assaulting a high school girl 38 years ago.

Hayley Dylan filed a 20-page lawsuit accusing the three-time NBA champ of sexual battery, sexual assault, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Dylan alleges that Scott lured her into an area of her high school away from other adults before forcing himself on her in a locked janitor’s closet.

“Scott pushed Hayley to her knees and, against her will, pulled off her top. Scott then pulled down his shorts, exposed his erect penis, and tried to force Hayley to perform oral sex on him,” the complaint states.

After the alleged assault, Byron Scott reportedly gave Dylan Lakers merchandise and discouraged her from speaking about what happened between them.

At the time of the alleged assault, Scott was married to his first wife, Anita Scott. The couple divorced in 2014.
