New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns knew what he was doing with the shirt he wore to Sunday’s Subway Series finale.
Towns was in attendance as the New York Yankees hosted the New York Mets at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. The stadium erupted with cheers as Big KAT was shown on the Jumbotron.

Fans online could not help but notice what was printed on the shirt Towns wore to the game. His top had a recognizable Knicks fan emblazoned on it. The fan was one of several rabid Knicks supporters featured in the now-infamous viral video uploaded by the YouTube channel Sidetalk NYC back in 2021.
In the clip, the fan on Towns’ shirt had a two-word message for the Boston Celtics and the team’s fan base after the Knicks won a double-overtime game against them to open the 2021-22 season.
“F–k Boston,” the fan said in the video.
The fan then made an “L” gesture on his forehead and danced, much to the delight of the other Knicks supporters around him. The video has since become a rallying cry for Knicks fans (note: the video contains profanity).

The fan doing his “L” dance was printed on Towns’ shirt, which explains why New York fans, both online and in Yankee Stadium, were raving about the Knicks star’s outfit.
The Knicks dismantled the Celtics in six games to end the franchise’s 24-year Eastern Conference Finals drought. New York was considered a heavy underdog in the second-round series, as Boston was widely projected to emerge out of the East for the third time in four seasons.
But the Knicks made all those projections look foolish, outplaying their rivals even before Jayson Tatum suffered his catastrophic Achilles injury.
