Juan Soto was called out for his initial struggles with the New York Mets. The slugger’s journey from the Bronx to Queens was not smooth. Yankees fans hate him and wait for every moment to troll him. Mets fans have been pretty supportive of Soto, and it took him a while to get the pace going.

Soto has seven home runs now. His last two came against the Arizona Diamondbacks after the Mets won with a 7-1 final score. Yet, even a mighty hitter like Soto needed some advice to get the ball moving. The All-Star recently revealed his mentor behind his recent offensive success.

Surprisingly, it was the Mets manager Carlos Mendoza. MLB insider Bob Nightengale mentioned that Mendoza made Juan Soto’s transition smooth and helped him big time.

‘I’ve been feeling, you know, really comfortable. It’s not easy at all. You know, when you come to a team for first time, it’s always going to take you a little bit to settle in, but Mendoza has been helping big time,” Nightengale wrote on X.

It is hard to settle down with a new team, and Soto might have felt the initial struggle. Furthermore, the pressure from the Yankees fans condemning Soto might have made things worse.

Soto will enter Yankee Stadium for the first time as a New York Met. There’s going to be a lot of boos when Soto walks up to the plate. Mets fans will continue their support for the slugger, but Yankees fans are still unhappy after he picked the Mets.

Soto had a sluggish start to the 2025 season but boosted his batting average to .346 in the last seven games. The slugger is now averaging .261 with a .385 OBP and a .863 OPS. MLB fans expect more from a player who signed a $765 million contract. However, Juan Soto is on the right pace and could easily hit 40-plus home runs this year.

The Yankees are coming off a massive win in walk-off fashion against the San Diego Padres, and fans are thrilled with their outing.
