Yankees fans are holding their breath as Jazz Chisholm Jr. remains questionable for Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. The flashy second baseman exited Wednesday’s 6-3 win early after experiencing left groin tightness, just two days after leaving another game with neck stiffness and a thumb cut from a collision at third base.
Chisholm has been dealing with minor issues throughout the week, and while none appear serious, the timing has raised concern. Manager Aaron Boone told reporters that initial groin-strength tests were “positive,” but a decision on his availability will come closer to the first pitch.

“I think he is ok. He felt something in his groin. Test, stretching, strength, all been good. So, we will see tomorrow,” Boone told reporters.
An Injury-Ridden Season For Jazz Chisholm Jr. So Far

The 26-year-old has only played 38 of 66 games this season due to various injuries, including a prior oblique strain. This week’s groin and neck issues seem minor, but with two consecutive scares, the Yankees want to avoid long-term risks.
If Chisholm sits again, expect Oswald Peraza to take his spot after already filling in mid-game twice this week.
Chisholm has recorded nine home runs, 24 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in limited action. He is walking at a career-high 10.5% rate, though his batting average sits at .214.
The Yankees, meanwhile, are flying high. They have won the series against the Royals behind power bats like Judge (25 HR), Bellinger, and Goldschmidt, and solid pitching from Clarke Schmidt and the bullpen.
