Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics faced a rough start in their second-round playoff game after dropping Game 1 against the New York Knicks. With the series now at 1-0 in favor of New York, Boston will aim to bounce back and tie things up in Game 2. The game is set to take place Wednesday night at TD Garden.
In preparation for the critical matchup, the Celtics released their latest injury report, listing just two players. The good news for Boston fans is that Jayson Tatum’s name is not among them. Kristaps Porzingis has been listed as probable as he deals with a non-COVID illness, while Sam Hauser remains doubtful due to a right ankle sprain.

Tatum’s presence on the court is vital for Boston’s playoff hopes. Missing him even for a single game could have a major impact. Throughout both the regular season and the playoffs, he has consistently been the Celtics’ top performer. In the first-round series against the Orlando Magic, Tatum posted averages of 31.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
However, Tatum and the Celtics collectively had a tough time at shooting in their Game 1 loss to the Knicks. Tatum still managed to finish the night with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists in 44 minutes, but Boston’s struggles ultimately cost them the game.
Jayson Tatum Sounds Off On Officiating After Game 1 Loss To Knicks

Following the Boston Celtics’ narrow 108-105 defeat to the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the second-round playoff series, Jayson Tatum addressed a pressing question during the postgame press conference. When asked whether the team’s limited trips to the free-throw line were related to their frequent three-point attempts, Tatum hinted at frustration with the lack of foul calls despite the game’s intensity.
“It’s not connected. It’s the playoffs. We probably should just play without the refs; that’s how physical it is,” Tatum said.
The Celtics built a 20-point lead in the first half. However, that momentum didn’t last. The Knicks clawed their way back into the game with a relentless second-half push. OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson led the charge for the Knicks, each scoring 29 points to overturn Boston’s early dominance.
