Shedeur Sanders’ NFL jersey number has been revealed ahead of his first season with the Cleveland Browns.

While it’s thought that Shedeur isn’t likely to start or even guaranteed a roster spot, the Browns have assigned him a number after taking him at No. 144 overall in last month’s draft.

The quarterback’s slide was unexpected, to say the least, given that he was expected to be called among the top five and was even projected to go No. 1 overall in the mock drafts of some reputable analysts.

Still, his jersey has been a top seller among rookies.

Ben Axelrod of Awful Announcing shared the Browns’ rookie jersey numbers via X on Tuesday, noting that the Browns are adding a 1 to the No. 2 Sanders wore in college.

Fans Aren’t Having A Shedeur Sanders/Tom Brady Comparison

Shedeur’s No. 2 was, of course, deeply personal and remains part of his “2Legendary” brand. But he’s set to wear No. 12 in the pros, as is former Colorado teammate Travis Hunter, who wore the same number in college.

“Hard not to think of another number 12, a former star college QB, who fell in the draft…” MLFootball claimed while sharing the announcement on Tuesday.

However, many fans would comment that Tom Brady, whom he’s being compared to, didn’t fall because he was not a top prospect.

“Brady didn’t fall in the draft, no one really expected him to become the GOAT and had no hype around his name unlike Shedeur,” one wrote.

“Let’s not compare him to Brady lmao,” another added.

“Brady didn’t “fall” in the draft. His numbers were pedestrian at best in college,” one comment read.

“Except Brady was 2nd string in Michigan,” someone else pointed out.

“We’re not doing this,”

Time will tell how Shedeur Sanders’ career pans out. After all, no one could have predicted Tom Brady would have gone on to have the success he had in the NFL.

Even so, their draft stories are hardly similar when considering the hype behind Shedeur coming into the league, as opposed to how Brady quietly built his reputation.
