Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross made a heartbreaking health announcement on Thursday, revealing a colon cancer diagnosis that had everyone offering prayers and wishing him well.
Ross, the voice of WWE for decades, revealed via X that he’s set for surgery in around two weeks’ time after learning of his condition this week.
“Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support,” he wrote.

Jim Ross Has Dealt With Multiple Health Issues Over The Last Few Years
Jim Ross is widely considered to be one of the most entertaining non-wrestlers in the business, having spent over 20 years with WWE in two stints.
He’s been part of some of the most memorable moments in wrestling history, with his voice booming through a great many of them.
JR partnered with Jerry “The King” Lawler for most of his WWE career. The two formed one of the best commentator duos ever, en route to a 2007 WWE Hall of Fame induction.
The 73-year-old has since taken up a role with AEW, leaving WWE for the younger promotion in 2019. Ross’s deal with the company also saw him function as a top advisor, although various health issues have prompted a reduced schedule.
Ross was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2021 but was able to beat it within two months. He underwent cancer surgery on his right hip last February.
The legendary commentator last appeared on AEW programming for the ‘Dynasty’ PPV on April 6.
