Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbins has been in the headlines for the last few days after his bold comment on the Yankees. Several MLB fans, players, and managers reacted to Dobbins’ bold comment. The pitcher openly stated that he would retire if the Yankees were the last team to give him a contract.

Dobbins received huge backlash. He later claimed that his dad was a die-hard Red Sox fan and was drafted twice by the Yankees. He also mentioned that his father was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Following his claim, the New York Post’s Joel Sherman mentioned that Hunter Dobbins’ father doesn’t come up as a Yankees draft pick. Dobbins shut down the media reports, saying he wouldn’t fact-check his father.

“Doesn’t faze me … my focus is on performing for the guys here in the locker room, for the fans. The whole backstory, stuff that I had heard growing up, and seen pictures from my dad — at the end of the day, it’s just from my dad, and what kind of grew my love for the game. But at the end of the day, I don’t go and fact-check my dad or anything like that, Dobbins said.

It’s pretty evident that Dobbins hates the Yankees, and he’s waiting for every opportunity to outperform them.

Hunter Dobbins Reflects On Aaron Judge Taking Him Deep

Aaron Judge never hesitated to swing against the rookie pitcher as he took him deep with a home run in his first appearance. Judge proved Dobbins wrong after all his talk before their game. However, Dobbins agreed that Judge was the greatest hitter of the generation.

“First inning, I got into a little bit of trouble, the greatest hitter of our generation arguably made a great swing at a pitch. But after that, I settled in and did my job, and we ended up getting the win, and that’s what matters,” Dobbins continued.

Hunter Dobbins will face the Yankees for the second time in Game 2 as they face off at Fenway Park. As for Dobbins’ dad being with the Yankees, there’s been no evidence of his claim.
