The Charlotte Hornets put up a sorry show this year in the NBA regular season. Trying to better their campaign from last time, the Hornets finished 14th in the Eastern Conference. With just 19 wins, the Hornets painted quite a sorry picture. Having lost a whopping 63 games this year, the Hornets will surely be looking to make some drastic changes to their squads. However, while doing so, they must ensure one thing- they do make their choices wisely. Because if they had done that in the past, the likes of Kobe Bryant and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would have donned their colors!
The Charlotte Hornets have a long history of making some horrible decisions about their trade. And this dates way back to 1996. During the NBA draft, the Hornets acquired the services of Kobe Bryant. Surprisingly, on the same night, they decided to trade their prized pick away to the Los Angeles Lakers! And from there on, the rest was history. Bryant went on to become one of the biggest names of the NBA.
Yikes, talk about major blunders
The Hornets really let go of not 1, but 2 future Most Valuable Players on Draft Night.

And this was not all. Back in 2018, Charlotte got lucky and drafted Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Unfortunately, once again, they decided to trade him for some unforeseen reason. While SGA was initially traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. Playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder currently, Gilgeous-Alexander had an exceptional season to be adjudged as the MVP. Meanwhile, with yet another season incoming, there are some interesting prospects coming up for the Hornets.
Charlotte Hornets Might Go For Mark Williams Replacement

The Charlotte Hornets are still undecided on Mark Williams. However, in a recent update from NBA insider Eddie Bitar, the Hornets might opt for a blockbuster trade. As a replacement for Williams, they might opt for the services of Jarrett Allen. Speaking in the same vein, Bitar opined that Allen might blend in perfectly with the Hornets owing to his impressive average this season.
“Allen offers a strong interior presence, averaging 13.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in the 2024-25 season, with a league-leading 70.6% field goal percentage. His efficiency and rebounding would be valuable assets for the Hornets, who are seemingly still undecided on what to do with Mark Williams,” said Bitar.

Thus, with the Hornets requiring a solid strategy for the upcoming season, it remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.
