Former NFL kicker Jay Feely, who’s trying to begin a political career, called out former President Joe Biden and defended Donald Trump in an X/Twitter rant.

In April, Jay Feely announced he’ll be running for the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District. Fellow Republican Andy Biggs, who’s held the position since 2017, will not seek re-election and is considering running for Governor of Arizona.

Taking to X, Feely said that Trump’s predecessor “made it unaffordable to start a new family, and disincentivized young moms to choose life.” Feely wrote that Trump is “the most pro-family president in history,” and endorsed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act:

Last July, Biden announced that he would not seek re-election following concerns about his health and performance in the first debate with Trump. Vice President Kamala Harris was named the Democratic nominee, and Trump went on to win the 2024 election to secure a second term.

Jay Feely was an NFL kicker from 2001 to 2014, playing for the Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears. Feely retired with a career field goal percentage of 82.6, with his best statistical season coming as a Dolphin in 2007 (91.3 FG percentage).

Feely retired after the 2014 season and became an analyst for CBS Sports in 2015. He held that position through the 2024 season, before resigning to begin his political career.

The former NFL kicker is far from the only notable NFL player or coach (past or present) to openly support Donald Trump. Brett Favre, Antonio Brown, Mike Ditka, Le’Veon Bell, Lawrence Taylor, Jay Cutler, Gardner Minshew II and Nick Bosa have also shared their support for the polarizing president.
