10 NFL Teams That Have No Idea Who Their QB Is

The quarterback is arguably the most important position in football, as they command every offensive snap, make crucial decisions on the field from passing plays to rushing through intense defenses, and are the primary on-field leaders. While most NFL teams have their answer at QB, there are quite a few of them that still have massive question marks at the position. Those question marks include who will be ready to start in week one of the 2026 season? Who will be able to keep their teams afloat for the season as it progresses? Who will potentially rebound after dealing with a rough 2025 season? And who will continue to step up and improve? These are questions we, as NFL fans, must know for these teams. Here at TPS, we’re going to dive into these teams and explore these questions, hopefully answering some of them. Which teams have the most unstable QB rotation right now? Pittsburgh SteelersSteelers helmet (Photo via Eric Hartline-Imagn Images) The Steelers have been known for their hard-hitting defense and have fielded some incredible defenses under Mike Tomlin’s leadership, before he decided to step down after the team’s Wildcard loss to the Houston Texans. After Ben Roethlisberger retired in 2022, the Steelers haven’t found their true number one quarterback to lead them on offense, as they drafted Kenny Pickett in the 2022 Draft, who fizzled out, Mason Rudolph, who’s currently a backup, Mitch Trubisky from 2022 to 2023, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in 2024, and recently Aaron Rodgers in 2025, who’s NFL future is currently unknown. The Steelers currently have Will Howard, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and Rudolph, who are not Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks. Howard never suited up for the 2025 regular season, as he fractured his hand during training camp, which placed him on injured reserve. Howard was activated off injured reserve in November 2025, and it’s unknown how Howard will perform in the league. Rudolph played in five games for the Steelers in 2025 and started in a week 12 game against the Chicago Bears, as Rodgers dealt with a wrist injury, but the Steelers lost 31-28. Rudolph completed 38 passes for 310 yards, threw two touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for six yards on seven carries in the 2025 season. Not the most promising numbers for Steelers’ fans hoping the 2026 season is going to be a cakewalk for their team’s QB. Even if Aaron Rodgers returns to the Steelers for the 2026 season, it’ll very likely be his final season in the league. If Rodgers doesn’t return in 2026 and if Rudolph and Howard don’t work, the Steelers will have to look at drafting their next signal caller in the 2027 NFL Draft. New York JetsAug 17, 2024; Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; New York Jets helmets during the second half against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports The Jets had Justin Fields on the roster in 2025, but that experiment was a complete flop, as he and Tyrod Taylor split the starting reps during the season. Fields was shipped off to the Kansas City Chiefs, while Taylor is still on the roster. Taylor has some potential to be serviceable, but has mainly been a backup quarterback for most of his career. The Jets traded a sixth-round draft pick to the Las Vegas Raiders to bring Geno Smith back to the fold, which raises some eyebrows in the wrong way, as Smith flopped with the “Silver and Black.” Smith was sacked 55 times, which was the most in the league in 2025. He threw 19 touchdowns against 17 interceptions (the most interceptions thrown in 2025), and went 2-13 as a starter. Those stats are not inspiring for “Gang Green” heading into 2026, but they could draft Ty Simpson in the upcoming draft and have him learn from both Smith and Taylor during the 2026 season. If Simpson does get drafted by the Jets, he wouldn’t start right away and would have to wait until the time is right to play QB for this team. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports Even though the Raiders are very likely going to draft Fernando Mendoza with the first pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, they decided to sign Kirk Cousins to a five-year, $172 million deal, with $20 million guaranteed.  Cousins will be a great veteran quarterback for Mendoza to learn from, but Cousins has had a history of injuries throughout the years, and one bad injury could force Mendoza or Aidan O’Connell into the starting role. While it’s not known how Mendoza will do at the professional level, O’Connell has professional experience as a backup, but has a 7-10 record as a starter. Cousins, on the other hand, gives the “Silver and Black” a more skilled veteran signal caller and has great leadership experience on the field. Heading into the 2026 season, Cousins could be named the Raiders’ starting quarterback, but things could change, as either O’Connell or potentially Mendoza could be handed the keys to the offense depending upon what happens after the 2026 NFL Draft. Cleveland BrownsCleveland Browns helmets (Photo via Stephen Lew-Imagn Images) If there’s a team with a massive question mark at QB, it’s the Cleveland Browns. Deshaun Watson will likely be the team’s starting quarterback when he returns to action after recovering from his re-ruptured Achilles injury. However, the team still has Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders (who made the Pro Bowl in 2025), who could split time and command the offense in the upcoming 2026 season. Gabriel may have gone 1-5 as a starter, but he completed 110 passes for 937 yards, threw seven touchdowns against two interceptions, and rushed for 86 yards on 19 carries in the 2025 season. Sanders, on the other hand, went 3-4 as a starter, completed 120 passes for 1,400 yards, threw seven touchdowns against 10 interceptions, rushed for 169 yards on 21 carries, and scored a rushing touchdown. Not the best numbers, but Sanders was put into the Pro Bowl as a replacement as other higher-ranked AFC quarterbacks declined the invitation. Sanders and Gabriel have room for improvement heading into the 2026 season, in case Watson is not ready to start for week one. Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images The Falcons released Kirk Cousins and will be forced to continue to develop Michael Penix Jr. as their main quarterback moving forward, despite his injury problems so far in his career The Falcons recently signed Tua Tagovailoa to a one-year contract with the team and have also signed backup Trevor Siemian to the roster. However, similar to Penix Jr., Tagovailoa has had his own injury problems, as he dealt with concussions, fractured ribs, and a fractured finger in his throwing hand. We would love to see both Cousins and Tagovailoa healthy for the 2026 season, but if they were both injured and forced to miss time, Siemian would be forced to step up, and his statistics don’t scream Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback. Simeian hasn’t played in the regular season since he was on the New York Jets in the 2023 season, and he went 2-1 as a starter, but threw four interceptions against two touchdowns. The Falcons must make sure Penix Jr. and Tagovailoa are fully healthy for the 2026 season and/or be prepared to roll with Simeian in case anything happens to both of them. Rebilas-Imagn Images The Cardinals released Kyler Murray to escape his high-salaried contract, and to rebuild under new head coach Mike LeFleur moving forward. However, the current quarterbacks on the roster are Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew, and Kedon Slovis, who aren’t Pro Bowl-caliber talent. Sure, Brissett and Minshew saw some success when they started games, but the Cardinals’ offense was awful in 2025, outside of Trey McBride. The offensive line was bad, as they allowed 59 sacks in the 2025 season. The Cardinals added Isaac Seumalo, Oli Udoh, and Elijah Wilkinson to bolster the offensive line for the 2026 season, which should help. Having a strong offensive line is a must for any quarterback, and we could be seeing both Brissett and Minshew split reps depending on how each of them performs or in case one guy is injured for the next man to step up. The Cardinals could also draft Ty Simpson, as he could replace Murray’s production and learn from both Brissett and Minshew before getting a chance to start. Not to mention, he would be a great fit in Mike LeFleur’s system, giving him pre- and post-snap movements and more defined reads that could get the offense moving in the 2026 season.  If the Cardinals do not draft Simpson and end up taking for the 2026 season, they could try to draft either Arch Manning or Dante Moore in the 2027 NFL Draft.  Miami DolphinsAug 3, 2022; Miami Gardens, Florida, US; A general view of a Miami Dolphins helmet on the field during training camp at Baptist Health Training Complex. Mandatory Credit: Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports After the Dolphins released Tua Tagovailoa, they signed former Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal to be their next quarterback. However, outside of De’Von Achane, the Dolphins’ offense has no other talented weapons for Willis to work with. The Dolphins also have Cam Miller and Quinn Ewers on the roster as well. Ewers did see some action in 2025, as he played in four games and started three of them, completing 55 passes for 622 yards, throwing three touchdowns against three interceptions, and rushing for 19 yards on eight carries. Ewers has the potential, but the starting job will likely go to Willis, as he’s more proven as a starting quarterback, thanks to his experience covering for Jordan Love when he was on the Packers. However, if anything happens to Willis before the start of the 2026 season, Ewers and Miller must be ready to take command. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images The Saints were an offensive mess in 2025, as they went through Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough, with Shough emerging as the guy who’ll likely be the team’s week one starter for 2026. Shough showed some significant promise as the Saints’ starter, completing 221 passes for 2,384 yards, throwing 10 touchdowns against six interceptions, rushing for 186 yards on 45 carries, and scoring three rushing touchdowns in the 2025 season. Year two should be very interesting, as opposing offenses have time to study how Shough performs and handles pressure. Rattler, on the other hand, completed 174 passes for 1,586 yards, threw eight touchdowns against five interceptions, and rushed for 167 yards on 31 carries in the 2025 season, which were slight improvements on his stats from 2024, but he went 1-7 as a starter and must improve in the 2026 season. The Saints recently signed Zach Wilson to a one-year deal, who was previously with the Miami Dolphins for the 2025 season. Although Wilson isn’t as talented as Shough or Rattler, he and Rattler must be prepared to take on the starting QB role for this team, just in case anything happens to Shough. Indianapolis ColtsDec 1, 2024; Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA; An Indianapolis Colts helmet sits on an equipment case during the first half against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Eric Canha-Imagn Images Yes, the Colts re-signed Daniel Jones to a two-year, $88 million extension for the 2026 season, but his 2025 season was cut short due to an Achilles injury.  When Jones was healthy, he completed 261 passes for 3,101 yards, threw 19 touchdowns against eight interceptions, rushed for 164 yards on 45 carries, and scored five rushing touchdowns in the 2025 season. If Jones isn’t ready to begin the 2025 season, Anthony Richardson, Riley Leonard, and Seth Henigan will have to be ready to step up.  Richardson’s production wasn’t great in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but he did appear in two games in the 2025 season, completing one pass for nine yards. Richardson must improve upon his production if Jones isn’t ready to begin the season. Otherwise, he’ll have a rough 2026 season.  Minnesota VikingsJan 13, 2025; Glendale, AZ, USA; Detailed view of a Minnesota Vikings helmet during an NFC wild card game at State Farm Stadium. McCarthy finally made his debut in the 2025 season, but he struggled at times, as the Vikings finished the year with a 9-8 record and missed the playoffs. McCarthy started in 10 games, completing 140 passes for 1,632 yards, throwing 11 touchdowns against 12 interceptions, rushing for 181 yards on 37 carries, and scoring four rushing touchdowns. The Vikings recently signed Kyler Murray to a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum, opening the door for some serious quarterback competition in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” Murray has playoff experience compared to McCarthy, who still has much to improve on for the 2026 season, and he could serve as a good mentor for McCarthy to improve his game. If Murray wins the starting job, he can potentially resurrect his career with the Vikings, as head coach Kevin O’Connell is a quarterback guru who got the best out of Kirk Cousins and revived Sam Darnold’s career. The Vikings also have Carson Wentz on the roster, even though he’s a shell of his former self, and Max Brosmer, who started four games and threw four interceptions and no touchdowns.  The Vikings have more questions at quarterback than answers, and we look forward to seeing who the Vikings will roll with as their starter for the 2026 season.

2026 NFL Mock Draft 12.0: Last-Minute Changes Shake Up Round 1 (The Final Edition!)

It’s here, folks. Draft week is finally upon us. That means time for one more NFL mock draft. The last edition is here. Let’s dive right into it. Who are the projected first-round selections in the 2026 NFL Draft? 1. Las Vegas Raiders: Fernando MendozaFernando Mendoza (Image Credits: Imagn) Nothing new here, folks. The Raiders have an easy call to take the QB prospect in this year’s draft class.  The signing of Kirk Cousins means Mendoza probably won’t start right away. That’s totally fine. The Raiders can take their time mentoring Mendoza. The sky’s the limit with him, Ashton Jeanty, and Brock Bowers running the offense. 2. New York Jets: Arvell ReeseArvell Reese (Image Credits: Imagn) The Jets need to rebuild their defense from scratch after trading away Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner last year. They can start here by taking the workhorse linebacker out of Ohio State in the NFL Draft. Reese would immediately slot in as the new leader of the Jets’ defense. And with plenty of ammunition in this year’s draft, they’d be in a good position to land even more talent around Reese. 3. Arizona Cardinals: Francis MauigoaFrancis Mauigoa (Image Credits: Imagn) Arizona could go anywhere with this pick. But for us, it’s hard to think they’ll wanna pass on the chance to pair Mauigoa with another rising star at offensive tackle, Paris Johnson Jr. Mauigoa is one of the best offensive lineman prospects of the 21st century. We know the Cardinals have a murky QB situation, but that can wait. Their next franchise signal-caller will love playing behind two rock-solid bookends. 4. Tennessee Titans: David BaileyTexas Tech’s David Bailey rushes the Kent State offense during a non-conference football game, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Jones AT&T Stadium. Jeffery Simmons is one of the NFL’s premier defensive tackles. Now, if the Titans could just find another playmaker to help him off the edge via the NFL Draft… Mr. Bailey will suffice, thank you very much. New Titans head coach Robert Saleh has worked with many great pass-rushers in his career. With the exception of Nick Bosa, none of them come close to Bailey’s ceiling or skill set. 5. New York Giants: Caleb DownsCaleb Downs (Image Credits: Imagn) John Harbaugh coached Ed Reed in Baltimore. Then Eric Weddle. Then Marcus Williams. And then Kyle Hamilton. In other words, the man knows how to maximize the safety position. Downs’ game is similar to Hamilton’s: A unicorn who can line up all over the field. He’s a beast in coverage, run defense, and sneaky-good at rushing the QB.  New York’s secondary has been an issue for a while. Downs can single-handedly turn this into an elite group. 6. Cleveland Browns: Carnell TateOhio State Buckeyes wide receiver Carnell Tate (17) catches a touchdown pass during the first half of the NCAA football game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Oct. 4, 2025. The Browns have quickly built up one of the league’s best defensive units. It’s too early to take a QB here. They can focus on the o-line later. So…that means taking the best wide receiver on the board. Jerry Jeudy isn’t a No. 1 receiver. Taking Tate gives Cleveland a real home run threat while shifting Jeudy into a better-suited secondary role. Regardless of who starts behind center in 2026 and beyond, the Browns will now have a well-rounded set of playmakers in Tate, Jeudy, Quinshon Judkins, and Harold Fannin Jr. 7. Washington Commanders: Jeremiyah LoveJeremiyah Love (Image Credits: Imagn) Last year, Washington learned the hard way that it’s not healthy to have Jayden Daniels run as much as he already has. How do you solve that? By putting a stud to help him out in the backfield, of course! Love is one of the best running back prospects in NFL history — no exaggeration. There’s no telling how explosive their run game would be with Love AND Daniels together. If he’s there at No. 7, Washington can’t hesitate to make this pick. 8. New Orleans Saints: Sonny StylesSonny Styles (Image Credits: Imagn) The Saints’ defense lost Demario Davis and Alontae Taylor. And at this time, franchise icon Cameron Jordan remains a free agent. Their defense is undergoing a big-time makeover. It can start with selecting the Ohio State linebacker via the NFL Draft. Like Caleb Downs and Arvell Reese, Styles is capable of turning an entire defensive unit around on his own. 9. Kansas City Chiefs: Rueben Bain Jr.Dec 28, 2024; Orlando, FL, USA; Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. (4) warms up prior to the game against the Iowa State Cyclones at Camping World Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jasen Vinlove-Imagn Images The Chiefs’ defense looked much older and slower last year. Clearly, it’s not a wise idea to expect a 32-year-old Chris Jones to mask the other flaws on this front seven again. With Jones nearing the end of his prime years, the Chiefs need to build for the future. A defensive wiz like Steve Spagnuolo should be able to maximize Bain’s production right off the bat. 10. New York Giants (From Cincinnati Bengals): Spencer FanoSpencer Fano (Image Credits: Imagn) The Dexter Lawrence blockbuster trade allows the G-Men to address their other glaring hole in the top-10. Andrew Thomas is among the league’s best offensive tackles, but the rest of the Giants’ o-line has been a mess since he arrived. That can change right here with the selection of Spencer Fano, another plug-and-play guy who perfectly fits the run-blocking system Harbaugh will look to implement in New York. 11. Miami Dolphins: Jordyn TysonSep 20, 2025; Waco, Texas, USA; Arizona State Sun Devils wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (0) in action against the Baylor Bears during the first half at McLane Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Chris Jones-Imagn Images With two first-round picks in the NFL Draft, it’d be a stunner if Miami didn’t add a wide receiver on Thursday night. Tate, Tyson, and USC’s Makai Lemon have certainly set themselves apart from the other receivers in this class, though. Miami doesn’t play around here in finding its new WR1 with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle gone. A Malik Willis-Jordyn Tyson-De’Von Achane offensive nucleus suddenly gives Dolphins fans something to be excited about in 2026. 12. Dallas Cowboys: Mansoor DelaneSep 13, 2025; Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA; LSU Tigers cornerback Mansoor Delane (4) reacts to Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway (not pictured) making an incomplete pass during the first half at Tiger Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images With Trevon Diggs long gone and DaRon Bland struggling to stay healthy, cornerback is Dallas’ biggest weakness right now. If the board plays out in their favor, though, Jerry Jones can land the best corner in this year’s class. Delane had 11 pass breakups and two picks in his final season at LSU. His coverage skills and all-world ball-hawking abilities could give Dallas its next All-Pro cornerback to finally turn this defense around. 13. Los Angeles Rams (From Atlanta Falcons): Monroe FreelingNov 9, 2024; Oxford, Mississippi, USA; Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Monroe Freeling (57) blocks during the first half against the Mississippi Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Petre Thomas-Imagn Images The Rams don’t have any pressing weaknesses in the draft, so they can think long-term with this pick. Sean McVay may not wish to replace Warren McClendon Jr or Alaric Jackson just yet, so the Rams can take precious time developing Freeling until he’s ready to take over as a starter. 14. Baltimore Ravens: Olaivavega IoaneOlaivavega Ioane (Image Credits: Imagn) The interior of the o-line took a big-time blow when star center Tyler Linderbaum left for the Raiders in free agency. This year’s class is weak on centers, but getting a day-one starter to shore up the guard position would still be a nice piece of work for GM Eric DeCosta. Ioane is easily the best interior lineman in this class. With Ronnie Stanley also getting up there in age, the Ravens need to prioritize the long-term outlook of the o-line. 15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Keldric FaulkAuburn Tigers defensive end Keldric Faulk (15) blitzes as Auburn Tigers take on Ball State Cardinals at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025. Auburn Tigers defeated Ball State Cardinals 42-3. If Todd Bowles’ squad is to reclaim the NFC South, the pass rush is going to have to take big steps forward. The Bucs love to use their day-one picks on offensive linemen or pass-rushers, and Faulk just feels like the ideal pick for Tampa’s ultra-aggressive defense that needs more playmakers. Faulk, YaYa Diaby, and Vita Vea are rushing the QB together. Now we’re talking. 16. New York Jets (From Indianapolis Colts): Jermod McCoyJermod McCoy (Image Credits: Imagn) Ty Simpson was a tempting pick here in the 2026 NFL Draft. But this is an ideal opportunity for the Jets to find Sauce Gardner’s replacement. And it’s only fitting if they find it here, having received this very pick from Indy in the Gardner trade. With McCoy joining a rebuilt defense that just landed Arvell Reese, this Jets defense would quickly have the makings to emerge as a top-five unit. 17. Detroit Lions: Akheem MesidorAkheem Mesidor (Image Credits: Imagn) The Lions could go with an offensive lineman here, but they sorely lack a capable secondary pass-rusher to help Aidan Hutchinson. They can solve that right here by taking the Miami product who nearly led the Hurricanes to a national championship triumph. Mesidor’s big-game experience would be a nice bonus to a Detroit team trying to get over the playoff hump. 18. Minnesota Vikings: Dillon ThienemanDillon Thieneman (Image Credits: Imagn) The Vikings had the league’s No. 2 pass defense last season, but why stop there? Adding Thieneman would give Brian Flores’ group a secondary with the depth and star power to be as dangerous as the Seattle Seahawks “Dark Side” group. And yeah, a Swiss Army Knife safety like Thieneman would be very helpful in a division with Jared Goff, Jordan Love, and Caleb Williams. 19. Carolina Panthers: Caleb LomuOct 11, 2025; Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; Utah Utes quarterback Devon Dampier (4) celebrates scoring a touchdown against the Arizona State Sun Devils with Utah Utes offensive lineman Caleb Lomu (71) during the second quarter at Rice-Eccles Stadium. But it would be wise to continue building upon an o-line that improved mightily in 2025. Lomu has experience playing guard, too, so the Panthers could place him there if they want to continue rolling with Taylor Moton and Ikem Ekwonu at the bookends. Either way, Lomu is a safe pick here. 20. Dallas Cowboys (From Green Bay Packers): T.J. ParkerT.J. Parker (Image Credits: Imagn) We love the way Jerry Jones has reshaped his defense since the Micah Parsons blockbuster trade. Quinnen Williams was a beast after coming over in a trade deadline deal with the Jets…and getting Rashan Gary in an offseason trade for a fourth-round pick was tidy business. Now, let’s complete the defensive makeover by adding the Clemson defensive end. Parker is another NFL-ready draft prospect who could help Williams and Gary get this defense back to an elite level that we once saw under Dan Quinn. 21. Pittsburgh Steelers: Ty SimpsonTy Simpson (Image Credits: Imagn) The Steelers might have to trade up for Simpson. But in this exercise, the No. 2 QB in the class slides down the board and into the waiting arms of Mike McCarthy’s group. As usual, Aaron Rodgers is dragging on the announcement about his playing future. Even if he comes back to Pittsburgh, it doesn’t hurt to line up his succession plan. 22. Los Angeles Chargers: Cashius HowellNov 15, 2025; College Station, Texas, USA; Texas A&M Aggies defensive end Cashius Howell (9) reacts after a defensive play during the first quarter against the South Carolina Gamecocks at Kyle Field. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-Imagn Images The Chargers are leaning on a 35-year-old Khalil Mack to lead the pass rush again. With Mack well past his prime, it might be wise to consider investing in a young stud here with long-term upside. Howell might not be a day-one starter, but this is a young defense that’s developed into one of football’s best under Jim Harbaugh. Howell can be deployed as a rotational piece, if needed, before becoming a full-time starter. 23. Philadelphia Eagles: K.C. ConcepcionKC Concepcion (Image Credits: Imagn) With the Eagles reportedly planning to trade AJ Brown to the New England Patriots after the draft, Nick Sirianni’s squad has to take a receiver here. Lots of enticing guys to choose from here, but Concepcion’s speed and ability to stretch the field would make him a lethal No. 2 receiver to DeVonta Smith. 24. Cleveland Browns (From Jacksonville Jaguars): Kadyn ProctorKadyn Proctor (Image Credits: Imagn) The Browns’ offensive line has undergone a massive turnover. A youth injection is necessary, and they can get started in the NFL Draft by taking the 2025 consensus All-American and Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner. Proctor comes from a winning program at Alabama. His big-game experience could help the young Browns’ offense come together and take that next step under first-year head coach Todd Monken. 25. Chicago Bears: Peter WoodsPeter Woods (Image Credits: Imagn) Montez Sweat led the Bears with 10 sacks last season. He didn’t have much support, with no other Chicago player topping six sacks. That could change here with Peter Woods, a well-rounded defensive tackle who can shore up the run defense and interior pass rush. 26. Buffalo Bills: Avieon TerrellAvieon Terrell (Image Credits: Imagn) Buffalo had the league’s No. 1 pass defense in 2025. But their secondary had a knack for getting lit up against quality opponents. See: The Divisional Round loss to the Denver Broncos. The Bills haven’t had an elite shutdown corner since prime Tre’Davious White. They could get on here in Terrell. A secondary with him, Maxwell Hairston, and Christian Benford carries a lot of long-term promise. 27. San Francisco 49ers: Max IheanachorMax Iheanachor (Image Credits: Imagn) With Trent Williams nearing the end of his NFL career, the 49ers have a chance to draft and groom his successor. The 49ers probably wouldn’t want Iheanacho to start right away, but there’s no problem betting on his upside here. He can learn from one of the all-time greats for a year before getting thrust into a starting job. 28. Houston Texans: Blake MillerClemson offensive lineman Blake Miller (78) during Spring Practice in Clemson, S.C. Monday, March 24, 2025. We know CJ Stroud was a disappointment last season, but very few QBs would be productive behind that abhorrent offensive line. Just sayin’ The Texans already have the league’s best defense and a nice set of playmakers for Stroud. What they need is better pass protection to get over the Divisional Round hump. At this part of the draft, Clemson tackle Blake Miller is the best remaining guy.  29. Kansas City Chiefs (From Los Angeles Rams): Denzel BostonOct 4, 2025; College Park, Maryland, USA; Washington Huskies wide receiver Denzel Boston (12) celebrates after the Huskies comeback victory over the Maryland Terrapins at SECU Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jamie Sabau-Imagn Images Rashee Rice could be facing more legal troubles, and 2024 first-round pick Xavier Worthy has yet to break out. With two first-round picks, GM Brett Veach can afford to bet on another wide receiver. The Chiefs rely too much on speed in their offense. Let’s add a big-bodied receiver and contested catch specialist to balance out the skills of Patrick Mahomes’ weaponry. 30. Miami Dolphins (From Denver Broncos): Kenyon SadiqKenyon Sadiq (Image Credits: Imagn) Sadiq deserves to go higher than this, but it’s always difficult to project how much teams will value tight ends in round one. If Sadiq falls? You bet the Dolphins should double down on pass-catchers. Sadiq is far and away the best tight end in the 2026 class. If he and Tyson can live up to their ceilings early, the Miami offense will be a juggernaut in the post-Mike McDaniel era. 31. New England Patriots: Zion YoungZion Young (Image Credits: Imagn) With the Patriots about to complete a trade for AJ Brown, that takes a wide receiver off the board here. This could be a “take the best player available” mentality, but the defense could use another potent edge rusher like Young. Having once played for the great Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel knows you can never have too many pass rushers. Young, Christian Barmore, and Milton Williams would be a nightmare trio for opposing linemen. 32. Their secondary is still set up to dominate for years to come, but it wouldn’t hurt to add another quality cover corner like Hood.

The 2026 NFL Draft is approaching very quickly, as each team is looking to select a new rookie who they hope can develop into a superstar for years to come. Even though there aren’t many quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft who look like game changers, there are plenty of other talented college players that each team needs to stay competitive for the upcoming 2026 season. Keep in mind, the first round isn’t the only round where talented athletes come out of, as NFL teams always find a steal in the later rounds of the draft. Here at TPS, we’re going to dive into every NFL team’s biggest need for the 2026 NFL Draft. Which kind of players does each NFL team need for the 2026 Draft? Guys like Kobe Baynes, Olaivavega Ioane, or Chase Bisonte would give Brissett or Minshew the necessary protection they need to make plays work during the regular season. Leave it up to general manager Eric DeCosta to find a new talented interior offensive lineman during the NFL draft. Drafting guys like Olaivavega Ioane, Emmanuel Pregnon, or Jalen Farmer would benefit the team for the upcoming season. Drafting a new, young, and competitive linebacker will help improve the pass-rush for the 2026 season. Mandatory Credit: Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports Similar to the Cowboys, the Broncos need a new linebacker, as the team released Dre Greenlaw and saw him re-sign with the San Francisco 49ers.  The Broncos could draft someone like Jacob Rodriguez, Deontae Lawson, or CJ Allen to take Greenlaw’s place for the upcoming 2026 NFL season and learn to dominate under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. The Texans should keep their eyes on the draft with guys like Caleb Banks, Lee Hunter, or Peter Woods, who should complement Hunter, Will Anderson Jr., and Azeez Al-Shaair in the 2026 NFL season. Jacksonville Jaguars: Running BackNov 3, 2024; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars helmets on the sidelines against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. The Jaguars need someone who’ll be explosive right off the bat, like Jeremyiah Love, Demond Claiborne, Emmet Johnson, or Kaelon Black, as options when looking for their next bruising rusher for 2026. Rebilas-Imagn Images The Chiefs need to rebuild their secondary, as they traded Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams and Jaylen Watson signed with the Rams via free agency.  Signing veterans like Tanner McCalister and Kader Kohu helps the secondary out, but neither of them is Pro Bowl-caliber.  Drafting guys like Mansoor Delane, Colton Hood, or Caleb Downs would flourish under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s system during the 2026 season and beyond. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports There’s no question the Raiders are going to select Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. However, the “Silver and Black” must upgrade their offensive line if Mendoza or Kirk Cousins want to make successful plays during the regular season. The Raiders’ offensive line gave up 55 sacks when Geno Smith was under center in 2025, and the team must draft someone who’ll prevent Mendoza or Cousins from getting sacked in key games. Guys like Kaydon Procter, Logan Jones, or Brian Parker should complement newly acquired Tyler Linderbaum, depending on who the team drafts during the weekend.  Los Angeles Chargers: Interior Offensive LineAug 12, 2023; Inglewood, California, USA; Los Angeles Chargers helmets on the bench at SoFi Stadium. Herbert was sacked 54 times during the 2025 season, and the Chargers must fix that heading into the 2026 season.  Keylan Rutledge, Emmanuel Pregnon, or Sam Hecht would be great complements to Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater on the Chargers’ offensive line, depending on who they select in the 2026 Draft.  Los Angeles Rams: Wide ReceiverJan 19, 2025; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Los Angeles Rams helmet on the sidelines against the Philadelphia Eagles in a 2025 NFC divisional round game at Lincoln Financial Field. However, they should consider drafting a new wide receiver, as Davante Adams is going to be 34 when the season concludes, and Puka Nacua keeps making headlines for the wrong reasons. Wideouts like Omar Cooper Jr., Denzel Boston, or KC Concepcion would be excellent additions to the team’s passing attack for the upcoming season, depending upon what kind of moves the Rams make during the NFL draft. Dillon Thieneman and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren are hard-hitting safeties that defensive coordinator Brian Flores would love to work with, depending on who the Vikings select in the upcoming NFL draft.  New England Patriots: Edge RusherPatriots Helmet (Photo By Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports) The 2025 Patriots had an impressive run to the Super Bowl despite losing to the Seahawks 29-13. The team needs a strong and productive edge rusher to cause havoc against opposing quarterbacks for the upcoming season.  Someone like Zion Young, T. J. Parker, or Cashius Howell would flourish under head coach Mike Vrabel’s and defensive coordinator Zak Kuhr’s schemes in the 2026 season and beyond. On the defensive side of the ball, the team needs a new defensive lineman, as Dexter Lawrence recently requested a trade from the team. Guys like Peter Woods, Lee Hunter, or Dominique Orange would replicate Lawrence’s production in the upcoming season and mesh nicely with the defensive unit moving forward. New York Jets: Wide ReceiverAug 17, 2024; Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; New York Jets helmets during the second half against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. The Jets must draft a new speedy wide receiver to complement Garrett Wilson for the upcoming NFL season.  Someone like Makai Lemon, Jordyn Tyson, or Chris Bell would shine under offensive coordinator Frank Reich’s system. The 49ers would love having guys like T. J. Parker, Akheem Mesidor, or Rueben Bain Jr., who would learn a lot from Nick Bosa and Keion White, and shine under defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. Rebilas-Imagn Images The defending Super Bowl champions saw their game-winning MVP running back, Kenneth Walker III, sign a three-year, $45 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving them in need of a new rusher in the backfield. Mandatory Credit: Denny Medley-Imagn Images The Bucs saw longtime linebacker Lavonte David hang up his cleats and retire during the offseason, and need a new linebacker to dominate in the pass-rush via the NFL Draft.  Someone like Jake Golday, Lander Barton, or Sonny Styles would flourish in the team’s defense and absorb knowledge from Alex Anzalone and Al-Quadin Muhammad, and fit in quite nicely with head coach Todd Bowles’ and defensive pass game coordinator George Edwards’ systems and schemes. The team must focus on drafting new cornerbacks who’ll patrol the secondary and cover the league’s best wide receivers moving forward. General manager Adam Peters should consider drafting Jermod McCoy, D’Angelo Ponds, or Treydan Stukes, who’ll cause some havoc against opposing wide receivers and replicate the production that the recently released Marshon Lattimore is leaving behind.
