The business end of the season is here. And with it the NBA MVP is almost done and dusted. However, there is still no official confirmation about who will be picking up this year’s accolades. But as of now, two names seem to be doing the rounds. One of them is obviously the charismatic guard from Oklahoma City Thunder, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander. And the other one? Well, it is his present opponent from the Denver Nuggets, Nikola Jokic. With the fans waiting eagerly for the announcement, the NBA has decided to play the waiting game.

At the moment, the Thunder and the Nuggets are locked 3-3 in the conference semifinals. Thus, the NBA does not want to take any chances when it comes to affecting an athlete’s morale. Announcing the MVP ahead of Game 7 might directly put a stress on the one missing out of it.

And by the looks of it, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looks favorite to become the NBA MVP. Leading his side to a thumping 68-win regular season campaign, Gilgeous-Alexander looks all set to topple the last year’s MVP, Nikola Jokic. Thus, even as the NBA delays, fans are looking quite spot on with their assumptions. And it might not be what you think.
