In the UFC, fighters risk everything for one goal: the golden belt. It’s the symbol of greatness that drives them through years of hard battles. For many, retiring without ever holding that title leaves a deep sense of emptiness. But Anthony Smith appears to be an exception. After stepping away from the title chase, he revealed that he had found something even more meaningful, something he had been searching for all along.

Anthony Smith recently reflected on his retirement fight, sharing a powerful moment of personal fulfillment. Despite never winning a UFC title or expecting a Hall of Fame induction, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction after his final bout. For Smith, it wasn’t about the belts or accolades—it was about finally feeling acknowledged for his journey, effort, and impact in the sport.

I’ll never win a title, I’ll never be in the Hall of Fame. But I think what I got that Saturday night was what I’ve been looking for this whole time. I just wanted to be acknowledged,” he said.

That recognition, received in the closing chapter of his career, brought him the sense of closure and validation he had been seeking all along. However, not everyone acknowledged him.

While many fans and fighters showed support for Anthony Smith after his final UFC fight, McGregor did not share the same sentiment. McGregor posted a laughing emoji on X following Smith’s loss, which many found discouraging. Although he later deleted the post, the message was already out there.

His reaction seemed to undermine the respect others had for Smith’s career, casting a negative light on what was meant to be a respectful farewell for the fighter who had given so much to the sport. Similarly, Dillon Danis also took shots at Smith. Suggesting that not everyone loved him in the company.
